Overnight Camp, Muirkirk 2019
A group of Company and Senior Section Boys camped out at Muirkirk in May 2019 a taster session for lightweight expedition camping.
D of E Expedition 2019
Matthew, Craig, Euan and Luke went to the Isle of Arran to undertake their Silver DofE Expedition during Easter 2019.The camp site in Glen Sannox was a spectacular place to cam at the end of day two.
Queens Men 2018
5 members of our Company Section were presented with their Queen's Badges in June 2018. Well done to Ryan Cree, Jonathan McKissock, Ross Briody, Evan Smith and Evan Burns.
DofE Gold Award Presentation, Edinburgh 2015
4 members of the Company Section were presented with their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards at a ceremony at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in July. Their certificates were presented by comedian and radio presenter Des Clarke . Well done to David Ross, Jonny Shaw, Dane Love and Gregor Aitken. They were among a group of only 18 BB members that received their DoE Gold award in 2015.
Battalion Cross Country 2015
Ryan Cree and Gregor Aitken took part in the annual cross country competition at Dundonald. Ryan came third in the S1 - S3 age group and Gregor finished runner-up in the senior event.
Battalion Quiz 2015
Two teams took part in the Battalion Quiz at Dundonald, with a respectable third place for Kieran, Douglas and Matthew. Dane, Cameron and Steven particularly enjoyed the pan-cakes and avoided the wooden spoon!
Cairn Table
On 20th April 2013 a group of boys, parents and leaders tackled Cairn Table at Muirkirk. Conditions were fine, although there was a cold wind at the top. Some of the boys had planned the route, using map and compass for the first time, well done to Kieran, Douglas, Christopher and Luke. Evan, Ross and Lucas were on their first hike with the Company Section and enjoyed the experience.
Annual Awards 2014
Provost Jim Todd presented the awards on Friday 6th June. The event was well attended and the Captain and Officers would like to thank everyone involved in making it such a success.
DofE Gold Expedition 2014
6 members of the Company Section completed their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Expedition, sometimes in dreadful conditions, in the Scottish Borders. Well done to David Walker, David Ross, Callum Ferguson, Jonny Shaw, Dane Love and Gregor Aitken
Competitions 2014
The senior team of David, Jonny, Fraser, Dane and Gregor were victorious in the 5-a-side competition, played four and won four.
Ross, Evan and Matt joined up with New Cumnock to compete in the junior competition.
The senior team of Jonny, Dane and Gregor were runners-up yet again in the annual quiz, losing to Kilmarnock in a tie-break.Jonathan, Matthew, Evan and Lucas were placed a very creditable fifth.
Dumfries House Royal Visit 2013
Dane Love, Gregor Aitken and Jonathan Shaw have been working at Dumfries House as part of their Queen's Badge Community Service. They were selected to represent the East Ayrshire Battalion when the Royal family were along to open the new Outdoor Centre during the Easter holidays. See if you can spot them along with other 'worthies' in the photographs below.
River Ayr Way
On Friday 28th December 2012 some hardy souls walked part of the River Ayr Way from Stair Bridge to Catrine House. Although the weather was a bit damp and blustery the ice-creams at the end more than made up for it.
Dumfries House Walled Garden
During 2013 a number of boys, officers and parents have been assisting in the development of the Walled Garden. A few were lucky enough to be invited along to the official opening and got to meet the Duke of Rothesay
Queen's Men 2013
Congratulations to Gregor, Dane and Jonathan who all received their Queen's Badges. They also attended a reception hosted by East Ayrshire where they received a further presentation from Provost Jim Todd.
Seniors at Dumfries House
Dane, Gregor and Jonathan were at Dumfries House to meet the Royals. More pictures on the Company Section page.
Coffee Morning - The Coffee Morning on 9th March 2013 raised over £1100 for Yorkhill. Well done to all involved and thanks for your support.
Diamond Jubilee Baton 2012
Junior Section and Senior Section boys were at Dumfries House to receive the Diamond Jubilee Baton. Inside is a message from the Queen which will be delivered to National Conference after travelling all over the UK,
50th Anniversary Presentation of Awards 2012
Fraser Young and David Ross were presented with their Queen's Badge at the Presentation of Awards. This is the highest award that they can gain in the BB and both are to be congratulated on their achievement.
Barcaple Camp 2012
The Junior Section and Company Section boys had a great time at Barcaple near Kirkcudbright. Weekend activities included kayaking, canoeing, archery, zip-wire and tree climbing. A great time was had by all.
BB at Murrayfield 2012
The Company Section went to Murrayfield to watch Scotland take on the might of South Africa. The boys enjoyed their day out although the result was not what they had hoped for.
BB at Dumfries House 2012
The Company Section visited Dumfries House where they were treated to a presentation on the future plans for the wider estate. Tea and shortbread were provided and much appreciated. Next day Dane, Jonathan and Gregor spent time clearing the area around the Crucifix as part of their Community Service section of the Queen's Badge.
BB At Hampden 2012
A group from the Company section visited Hampden to cheer on Kilmarnock in the Scottish Communities Cup Semi-Final against Ayr United.
BB Battalion Company Section Quiz 2012
Our team of Gregor, Dane, Fraser and David recently competed in the East Ayrshire Battalion Quiz. Calling themselves 'We Don't Do Quizzes' they came in second, only two points behind winners 'Craig Whyte's Financial Advisors'! Well Done Boys!!
News
Seven boys completed a three day expedition on Arran as part of their Silver / Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. With glorious weather on the island over the Diamond Jubilee weekend, everyone had a great time.
After finishing up in Sannox on Monday, evreryone returned to Auchrannie for a shower and dinner before returning on the last ferry.
Well done to Callum, Gregor, Fraser, Jonny, David, David and Dane.
