David Hamill

David Hamill Induction

On Friday 12th February 2010, David Hamill was inducted as minister to our church. With his wife Isabel and young daughter Lauren, they received the call to serve in Cumnock and moved from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland to join us. David always told the story about how he simply saw the poster with our vacancy announcement on a notice board in the college he was attending and was immediately drawn to apply for the position. David had been a baker prior to his call to study for the ministry.

A gentleman in every sense, David had a real heart for people. His pastoral ministry left a deep and meaningful impact on many of the people he supported in the congregation and community.  Loved by everyone, his friendly, approachable manner drew people to him and to the Saviour.

David's wife Isabel was gifted in Children's Ministry and supported him during their time in Cumnock with Children's Addresses in the church services as well as Children's Missions including 'Eli's Toyshop'.  Their use of puppets to share the Gospel was loved by young and old alike. They also built a thriving Youth Ministry with the teenagers in the Church, encouraging them to be involved in the worship of the church through music & drama.

David's time in Cumnock was cut short, as he returned to Northern Ireland in 2012 to be near family whilst he dealt with health concerns and illness. David continued his ministry studies in Northern Ireland and was ordained as Revd. David Hamill on 1st January 2021. Only a few short weeks later, on the 24th January 2021,  David went home to be with the Lord.

One of David's favourite scriptures was from Isaiah 40:11:

"He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart."

David preached God's love for everyone and demonstrated that love during his short ministry in Cumnock. He is fondly remember by all.
